San Shown Here Sculpting with Wet Saws

"When I am working on this Concrete Sculpture, I make sure I protect myself as I go along. Safety first is my motto. I use a respirator to keep out the concrete and aggregate dust, wear gloves and long pants. I enjoy the creating of this artwork so much and know that as a sculptor, this project is much bigger than I even realized. What a joy to be able to bring a piece of history to the world," says San. |
San Using a Wet Polisher |
"I love the polishing the best. I have always been very tactile with liking the way things feel. Sometimes when I am getting ready to create either a painting or sculpture or photograph something, my subjects take on a life of their own, before I start. I can actually look or think of something and 'feel' it in my hands. In the case of this 9/11 concrete sculpture, I come to work each day, touch the piece to feel its temperature and meditate for about 5 minutes before I start. This sculpture especially, has a life of its own." |
